40 tips that really help
These ideas come from Chatter (Ethan Kross), Don’t Believe Everything You Think (Joseph Nguyen), The Untethered Soul (Michael Singer), and everyday practice. Pick one tip and try it today.
TIP 1
You did the best you could then
Looking back, you see things you could not see at the time. Judging a past self with today’s knowledge is unfair, like blaming a child for not knowing algebra. Self-forgiveness research, for example by Jennifer Wohl and colleagues, links forgiving oneself with less rumination and lower distress.
TRY THIS
Say: “I did what I could with what I knew.”
TIP 2
Remember who you were
Recall your age, pressures and knowledge.
TRY THIS
Write three facts.
TIP 3
Remember your options
You may have had fewer than you think.
